Navy Pays Sailor $3,400 per Minute
In a recent program the US Navy introduced last spring, some Sailors are being paid as much as $3,400 dollars per minute for their time. In a recent interview with ET3 Marcus Johnes he stated that he completed a task for the Navy, consisting of exactly 13 minutes and 25 seconds of his time. His payment, $45,000 dollars. That translates into about $3,400 bucks a minute.
{mosimage}When interviewed, his supervisor, Mick Bradlee explained the new Navy initiative that supports this type of obvious tax dollar waste. The program is called Privatized Research Technicalities, or PRT for short. The program has been around for quite some time now, but only recently has it been thrust into the limelight with the 3 strikes rule.
Petty Officer Johnes will not be the first Combat Sailor to receive such an exorbitant amount of money for such little time. Just last fall there were reports of a combat deployed USS Mckinskey Sailor who received an estimated $65,000 dollars for about the same amount of work.
One Sailor onboard USS Whitesands claims that the new PRT initiative is wasteful. “I was the 2005 Copernicus Award Winner! Did I get 50K for that? Nope, not even a trophy” So the Big question on everyone’s mind, “What did he do for the 13 minutes to earn such a high bonus?” Now don’t go rushing the Recruiter Office when you hear this, He RAN, that’s it. He wasn’t testing out any new combat hydration system, or new running shoes. He wasn’t testing flow on the Chuck-a-receptacle, well he did do that. He simply ran 1.5 miles.
Thank You Marcus Johnes…..you give hope for the little guy.
